Sirmione Castle on lake Garda

From snow-capped mountains to rolling hills, from small towns on the shores to islands in the center of the lake,
Lake Garda is a destination that can satisfy everyone, at any time of the year.
The Scaliger castle of Sirmione built around the year 1250 is one of the best preserved castles in Italy. Today it is in perfect condition and can be visited entirely: two crenellated towers dominate the lake and the dock,
still functioning, which houses a lapidary from the Roman era.
Sirmione Castle on Lake Garda it is a suggestive fortress directly overlooking the lake, which is accessed via a drawbridge over the water.
The 146 steps allow you to reach the top and admire the surrounding area. The entrance to the castle is also the
only way to enter the historic center of Sirmione: you can touch the history of this center and of one of the few
lakeside defensive structures in Italy.
Built by Mastino I Della Scala, the Castle of Sirmione is also linked to many legends, including that of Ebengardo
and his beloved Arice. According to legend, one night at the castle a knight asked for hospitality: struck by the
beauty of Arice, he entered his room. Arice shocked refused him and he stabbed her. Ebengardo in turn killed his
rival, and since then on stormy nights his spirit has wandered around the castle in search of his beloved.
The castle can be visited from Tuesday to Saturday and on Sunday morning by paying the ticket € 5.00
